Using Reiki to Enhance Creative Self Expression
Creative energy surging through the universe encouraged human beings to tap into fire, invent the wheel, plant wheat and send people into the sky. Yet, these little nuggets of inspiration are nebulous and often elusive when we need them most. I’ve heard so many people say, “I’m not creative,” but I don’t believe that’s true. Human beings were born to create. We all create one thing or another, whether it’s a good meal, a winning golf game, or However, most people see creativity as this special thing out there in the ether that is only possessed by people of great artistic talent.
Merriam Webster defines creativity as, “the ability to make new things and think of new ideas.” We all do that in one way or another, yet sometimes this ability is not as strong as it could be. Sometimes we stand in our own way of creation and utilizing Reiki energy can help us to become more creative on many levels. For example, on the most basic level, when Reiki heals the physical body, we are more open to creative pursuits. We can’t perform higher mind tasks when our bodies are in distress, so healing our Earthly vessel can help our souls open up to our higher purpose. In addition, Reiki can help clear blockages that limit our self-expression. In the process of Reiki treatment, we undergo a lot of clearing of soul issues that keep us stuck in low level thinking patterns. As we recognize these issues, we can utilize our creativity to release them and, therefore, open ourselves up to even greater creativity.
Regular Reiki treatment can help us to get out of creative ruts. Sometime we just need to “get us out of our own head,” as Deborah Flanagan said in her article, “Reiki and Creativity.” Flanagan also went on to say that utilizing Reiki energy can, “help gain clarity, tap into your intuition, and discover inner wisdom.” As we tap into our intuition, we gain a different outlook on ourselves and the world and are able to put a different spin on the process of life.
Another interesting thing I found is how some artists use Reiki to not only enhance their creative process, but also integrate art into their healing practice. Tara Moorman said in her article, “Art and the Reiki Way,” “ Subsequent to painting I activate my hands with the Reiki I and II symbols and ask Reiki to flow freely into the painting, filling it with healing love and light.” Interestingly, Moorman also uses art to enhance her healing practice. She creates artwork while performing distance Reiki and utilizes the pieces she creates as part of her healing sessions. This is one way I’d also like to integrate Reiki and the arts.
I believe as we connect to our true selves, we are able to put our own special imprint on the world. As we allow Reiki energy to heal our body, mind, and spirit, we get in touch with our inner talents and abilities and are more confident to share those talents and abilities with the world. As Tara Moorman said, “The ability to integrate Reiki into every facet of our lives, including our work, compounds the healing and transformation that is taking place in ourselves and our planet.”
